• We will never spam you or give your personal information to anyone.

• We may ask you for permission to release your e-mail address to the nonprofits that you have already donated to.  You are free to say no.

• Other users:

  • ...can see you on the site through your username.

  • ...can NOT see any of your financial transactions, including your Giving Portfolio.

How we treat your information

We will never spam you.

We do send you information about the listings you donate to, so you can stay in touch with the related nonprofit.

We will never disclose your personal information without your permission.

We will never sell, rent or share your personal information with a 3rd party, especially your email addresses and phone numbers, without your express permission, unless required by law. We hate this more than you do!

We give you full control over your information, including the ability to wipe it from our system.

You can destroy your account when you choose. When you donate to your listings, you’re going through Google Checkout. socialmarkets never stores your credit card information EVER.

We will only access your personal information when:

• You specifically request us to do so (e.g. you are having technical difficulties).

• It is required by law.

• It is necessary to maintain our system.

We may sell, rent or share information about user habits in aggregate only.

We will never do so in a manner that could even remotely be individually identifiable.

For example, we could collect and share information like "what is the average air speed velocity of a bird?" but we would NOT share information like "what is the air speed velocity of that African swallow over there in the corner?"

What information do we collect?

Personal: Name, email addresses, password

All passwords are stored on our server in encrypted form - not even we can tell what they are! If you lose your password, we will generate a new one and send it to you.

Transactions: Donations, donations history

We deal in information about money and donations, but we are not a bank. We will never release your portfolio to other people without your permission.

Usage: Number of logins, last login, activity and error logs, ip addresses

This data helps us keep socialmarkets up and running smoothly.  The IP addresses are tracked only for site statistics, and are not linked to your account in any way.

Cookies and log files

socialmarkets sends a "cookie" to your computer that contains an identification number that is unique to the computer you are using. We use this cookie to provide you with a continuous experience, and for us to record how our service is being used.

Just like many other sites, we log each visit to each web page. A log entry can contain information typically found in the "header" of your web browser's request, such as browser type, IP address, and date and time. We may also log your cookie's identification number and the URL of the site from which you navigated to us. This log information is important for security, audit, quality improvement, as well as for monitoring the health of our service.
